Modern and Antique Furniture Refinishing/Restoration

It is well understood that often antique furniture requires a proper restoration, for example a 100 years old table or chairs that have more important sentimental value. Most of my clients have antique furniture taken from great-grandparents that is outdated over time and needs a proper work in order to make it back in order. 

At the same time modern table refinishing is in high demand too. A good wooden table is an expensive luxury item, it is long lasting but at the same time requires some work too. For example, in families with kids and pets the tables become very used and outdated - scratches, marks, chips - all sorts of things may happen and the beauty of the wooden table is that you get it refinished and the table is brand new again. 

I recently had a customer who was really concerned if we can make the modern wooden table and benches new again. She has been browsing the shops and marketplaces and understood that a brand new wooden table of high quality costs thousands of dollars. Plus, the clients table was a high quality table but over the time it became worn out. She finally found us and decided to give it a try. The client confessed in the end that she was very concerned that her furniture would be great again. 

Sometimes, we get orders from customers who in the end don’t like the final finish of the table or a dresser and would like to change it. In that case we do the same thing as with worn out table - sanding down the current finish till the wood is purely clean, then we apply stain or oil (depending on the client's preference) and coat it with several layers of protective polish depending on the furniture needs, sometimes there 3 coats of polish and sometimes - 7-9 coats. It is very important to know the technology as each wood requires its specifics.
